Kyle & Jason <3

Feeling Inspired

“Between the black and white stationary, the gold compass favours and the insane four tier wedding cake – everything about this shoot had me swooning over the perfection of the day!”

“The first time I met Kyle and Jason I was instantly drawn to their charismatic, charming personalities. I knew they would be absolutely perfect for a styled shoot that I had created, but put on hold. I was yet to execute this same sex wedding simply because I had not found the perfect couple.

Kyle and Jason’s beaming love for each other, witty personalities and the energy that they brought out of everyone around them was astonishing. I wanted this shoot to be modern, masculine and traditional. All of the decor we set up was black and white with the odd accents of gold tossed into the mix to add extra definition.

Ribbet collagegay5The flowers were strictly black and white with greenery. I was over the moon when the florist, Bernice showed me the black calla lilies she had lined up for us. Between the black and white stationary, the gold compass favours and the insane four tier wedding cake – everything about this shoot had me swooning over the perfection of the day!”

Tina & Dave – June 25th, 2016

Wedding

This wedding took place in June at Crown Isle Golf Course in Courtenay, BC. Tina and Dave’s wedding was full of different shades of purple and a whole lot of bling. Tina knew exactly what she wanted for her wedding day, and let me tell you.. it was a whole lot of fun!!

When I first chatted with Tina I could instantly feel the energy and joy of getting married beaming from her. I knew right away that this wedding was going to be special. The love and emotion between Tina and Dave through the entire wedding planning process was so inspiring. They overcame obstacles side by side with each others best interest at heart. Tina and Dave truly wanted to make each other have the best day possible surrounded with their closest friends and family.  This wedding party, family and friends definitely knew how to party and have a good time.

Nathalia & Gregory

Wedding

This wedding took place at the Kingfisher Resort, Comox Valley in early February. This wedding was a ton of fun to plan because I had to do something I had never done before. I had to plan Natalia & Greg’s wedding without any input from the bride! I worked solely with Greg as his lovely bride was living in Brazil and would not arrive until just a few days before the wedding. Of course I found out what she liked, her favourite color pallet and a few other small details, but all of this information was passed on to me through Greg. Greg wanted to surprise Nathalia with an intimate afternoon wedding. We knocked it out of the park! Nathalia, her parents and all of Greg’s family and friends absolutely loved the intimate day we created for them.

Bride’s Who Brunch!

Feeling Inspired

Imagine arriving at a beautiful garden, filled with your closest friends and family. It’s only 11am on a Sunday but today is your big day! You’re getting married! After a short and sweet ceremony the guests are entertained by a beautiful harp and piano duo while being served mini breakfast hor d’oeuvres and mimosas. Don’t forget the fruit and cappuccino cart complete with a friendly barista to wake your guests up when they first arrive.

While the wedding party photos are being taken guests are encouraged to have some fun together. From lawn games to a waffle and pancake bar; ideas are limitless to add a fun feel to your mid day wedding. Brunch weddings are a wonderful opportunity to get creative. From the money you’ll save on your venue, food service and bar you can put all the extra touches you have dreamed about for your special day!

Brunch receptions are generally more cost effective than an evening dinner or cocktail reception. Shorter more playful dresses, and relaxed pant suits for the gentleman are popular for this style of wedding. An afternoon wedding in the sun is great for having time to mingle and relax with guests. Serving house favourite cocktails allow for liquor costs to be minimized.

Brunch receptions are an opportunity to get to know the bride and groom in a fun, unique way. Incorporating fun activities to engage guests, having signature cocktails and adding personal touches to represent the newlywed couple and the reflection of their love is sure to make a memorable event.

Brides who brunch are a whole lot of fun!

The Old House Hotel’s Wedding Show

Feeling Inspired

The Old House Hotel and Spa’s Wedding Show was a blast. This wasn’t your typical bridal trade show. At this show, each vendor got their own hotel room to decorate and promote. Guests walked throughout the 3 floors of the hotel, sipping complementary wine, eating delicious treats and going into different hotel rooms to meet each vendor, gather information and find out about the business the room was promoting.

I thought this was such a cool idea. It gave us vendors a chance to have time to chat with couples in a setting that was completely about us and it was much more personal than other trade shows we have done in the past. Purely Flower Boutique and I shared a room on the first floor and our room rocked, (thanks to all those gorgeous flowers Tamara brought in)!! Check out below to see how we transformed the room… everyone wondered what we did with all the furniture!

When I first saw this room I instantly new I wanted to hide all the furniture,  but since we couldn’t actually take anything out of the hotel room I had to get creative!

After setting up the basics the night before, I was able to meet Tamara from Purely Flowers in the morning to finish off all the final touches!

12 Reasons You Should Hire a Wedding Planner

Feeling Inspired

12 REASONS YOU SHOULD HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER

IMG_2079

You deserve everything to be perfect on your wedding day

It takes a lot of time, hard work and dedication to pull a wedding together and have the day executed flawlessly. Professional wedding planners have organized countless weddings; we know what works and what doesn’t. As we all know, with practice comes perfection!

Wedding planning is stressful

Wedding planning isn’t for everyone. There are so many working parts to coordinate into a single day. It can become stressful and overwhelming, especially if you have never done it before. Did you know  lists Event Planners as the 5th most stressful job in the world? That is right after Police Officers!

We know whose who in the industry

Over the years we have built strong relationships with vendors and venue coordinators in the wedding industry. We know whom to trust, who to avoid and who those hidden gems are that have yet to be discovered in the wedding world.

It’s our full time job

This is our full time job and we absolutely love it! We pour our hearts and souls into each wedding we do as if it is our own. We go above and beyond for clients because we sincerely want their day to be perfect.

liv:meesh

We have the experience and can think on our feet

A professional wedding planner knows the planning process inside and out. We know what works and what doesn’t. If something goes wrong or an emergency comes up, we have the ability to resolve the problem quickly and efficiently with a smile on our faces. Your guests will never even know there was a problem.

We know what things really cost and can save you money

Your wedding planner can save you money by helping you avoid costly mistakes. We will help you establish a realistic budget and set you up with the best vendors for your budget. We are able to help negotiate contracts and get you vendor discounts; after all we work with these vendors all the time!

Evelyn Jane Photography

We are your spokesperson with family and vendors

We are able to convey your wants and needs with vendors and family members when you simply don’t want to or can’t deal with doing it yourself. As your wedding planner we wear many different hats; a therapist, a referee, a best friend, a moderator, we are whatever you need us to be.

We take care of everything, so you can actually enjoy your day

Many brides wonder why should I hire a planner when there is a venue coordinator who will take care of the food and venue staff, a photographer who will make our shot list and a DJ who will make sure the dance floor is full? But who will make sure the décor is set up correctly, that the place cards are at the correct spots, that all the vendors are working together, that the MC knows when he is supposed to be talking and that things are happening when they should be? That is the job of your wedding planner. We are there to take care of all those annoying details (that we love), and everything in between.

Your mom & dad will be thrilled

Even though this is your big day, this is one of the most important days to your mom and dad. This is the day that makes them realize their little baby is all grown up. Having a wedding planner takes the stress and panic off your parent’s shoulders, which takes the stress off of you. After all, they want this day to be perfect for you, they might stress out about all the little details more than you will. On your wedding day they will be the ones at your wedding venue, setting things up and trying to coordinate the vendors instead of sipping champagne and getting ready for the big day!

Neville Black Photography

We know what’s hot, what’s not and what’s realistic

Since this is our 9-5 job, we eat, breathe and dream weddings. We absolutely love the design factor that comes along with planning a wedding. We don’t just oversee logistical matters, we supply you with fresh ideas, let you know what’s trending and what’s not. We don’t recreate something that’s already been done, we take your inspirational photos and vision to create you a timeless event that is unique to you as a couple.

We are there when people bail

When friends and family bail or are constantly busy when you need to get things done, we are always close at hand. We are there to help you with any tasks big or small… and we are a lot of fun to be around!

We are the go to person for everyone on your wedding day

On your wedding day you are supposed to have fun and live in the moment, not answer questions from a million different vendors and guests. We will make sure drunk Uncle Joe gets in a cab safely, that gifts are in a secure location and that your photographer is ready when you toss your bouquet. If you ask anyone who has had their wedding, they will all tell you the day flies by! We are there to make sure you actually get to enjoy your wedding!

Q & A with Olivia – A Day in the Life

Feeling Inspired

What is your typical day like?

I have two wonderful children so my morning usually starts around 6AM. My husband and I have our morning routine, which of course starts with a lot of coffee! Once I get my adorable toddler off to daycare and my oldest son leaves to school, I wander down to my home office with a smoothie or sometimes another cup of coffee. I start my day off by checking my emails, social media and seeing what is on my to do list for the day.

Every day is different for me, I usually schedule my meetings, site visits and appointments for Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, but honestly it always changes depending on my clients needs. The great thing about owning my own business is that I can make hours that work best for my family, my clients and myself! I am not restricted to a typical 9-5 job.

Somedays I spend hours staring at my screen writing contracts, creating budgets, timelines, floor plans and design inspirations for clients. Other days I am lucky enough to spend my time visiting stunning new venues, hanging out at my favourite bridal shop or I spending the day in a rental shops creating mock designs for clients. My day is always different, I love it!
